These 1" abalone shell buttons are made from Mexican green abalone shells. Please expect some variation in colors and patterns from button to button as these are natural products. The buttons are made from shells that are a by-product of the food industry. When exported from the USA, Mexican abalone shells are subject to USFWS export processing fees at overseas rates, not at NAFTA rates as one would think. Made in China from Mexican shells.
